Importing Single DBX Files

Here's my issue.
My friend's DBX files became corrupted (for whatever reason) and he
seemingly lost all his mail. It may have been just the pointer that was
the
problem as I was able to restore most of his messages from the DBX files
in
his "Outlook" folder.
Everything seemed to be better, but although I got about 90% of his
messages
back, there is still a block of them missing. I beleieve I may have found
them in the *.BAK folders in his recycle bin. I retrieved & renamed them
and
am now tyring to import them to a separate folder in OE, but it's not
letting
me. I created new folders in OE to match the names of the .DBX files I
want
to add and I've also checked to make sure they're not read-only.
When I try, I get the message that "No messages can be found in this
folder
or another application..." etc.
Can someone advise what I'm doing wrong or how I can get around this?
