Default register contacts to Outlook profile? (Outlook 2003)

Changing the navigation pane UI has no effect on any other part of Outlook's
operation. I'd suggest you look elsewhere for the source of the problem:

1) Look on the Properties dialog for the Contacts folder to make sure it's
still marked as part of the Outlook Address Book.

2) Use Tools | Address Book, Tools | Options to bring up the Address Book
dialog and check its settings, especially the address lists used to resolve
names in outgoing messages.

Exporting and importing may, in fact, have messed things up, leaving some
contacts with unresolved email addresses.

I inadvertently disconnected my contacts folder (and my calendar) from my
profile by removing them from the All Mail Folders section of the left
navigation pane. I thought that the little icons in the bottom section of
that pane would be sufficient. However now when I attempt to use autoresolve
in e-mail messages or to search in contacts, it can't find anything.

All my contacts are still in the contacts folder, they're just apparently no
longer associated with my Outlook profile. I've tried exporting to a csv and
then importing, but that doesn't help.

Any ideas?

thanks!
