I don't see anything in Diane's suggestion about importing. Did you try her
solution -- link the folder, then copy or move the contacts into it? You
will need to do that from an Outlook 2007 machine, because Outlook 2003
can't create contacts in a Sharepoint proxy folder (which might negate it as
a solution for you).

And did you try the approach I suggested, which has been used for years, up
until Outlook 2007 made sharing easier?

And what about an Exchange public folder with appropriate permissions?
