Correct

To confirm - the phone number is not correctly formatted ( in (212)
555-1212 format) in an open contact as well in list views in the folder.

United States 818 and yes, I do have to remove the +1

Adding the 1 in front after viewing the phone # means the telephony
service is working correctly - you do want to avoid clicking that button
though, otherwise you'll need to remove the +1's.

What country/region is set in phone and modem options? Double click on
the location in the Phone and modem options dialog - the default
location is usually called My Location. What are you using for the
Country/region?

No, but when the Check Phone Number box appears the area code is in the
right place, as is the phone number....then, when I close the box, the
phone number appears correctly except that it has a +1 in front of it !

Do you get any errors when you click the Business... or Home...

Finally had a chance to check the control panel. NOTHING looks
different in the dialing properties. Any other clues as to why/how my
contact phone numbers are changing?

"Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote in message

Was it changed to a different location? I doubt it changed this by
itself, but since its something that you set once and forget about,
it would be easy to change it, then not notice anything amiss for
weeks or months.

Using Outlook 2007 on Windows XP Pro computer. Something quite
odd has happened. Suddenly, all of the telephone numbers in my
contact list are one long number (xxxxxxxxxx) rather than the
area code being in parentheses and a dash inserted after the
first three digits of the phone number ((xxx)xxx-xxxx). Even if I
try to change the entry, it reverts back to one long nunber. Any
idea what's happening and/or how to correct it ?
