The Outlook error I get and have for a couple of years now is when I
go to delete or archive messages that are any earlier than 11/5/2003
which are in my sent folder.

The message interface has returned an unknown error, if the problem
persists , restart outlook.

I am runing Office XP with Outlook 2003 SP 1 installed
