Thanks Michael,
this makes a lot of sense. It is not the OLEXP settings, because I checked
all that.
The user has a serious eye condition and the system was reset for higher
contrast, but the person who did it was a medical person and did not really
know what he was doing. I have been able to correct most, but not this.
Will try tomorrow (we are 9 hours ahead of you guys ...). Bruce's and your
suggestions really help.

Also check Control Panel, Accessibility Options, Display and Uncheck Use
High Contrast
I suspect that the above changes were made intentionally by the
"Expert". So you'll have to figure out which settings give the customer
the best overall experience.

This customer has sight problems. Some "expert" has changed a lot of
settings
in his computer, some good, some bad.
One of the consequences of his actions is that Outlook Express will
not
allow text to be written in colour.
All other HTML functions work fine (font, bold, etc.) but colour does
not.
Also, if a message in composed in colour in Wordpad or Word, then
copied to
OE, the same happens: the text becomes black.
As colour differences are very important to this elderly gentleman, a
solution woudl be appreciated.
