Hi
Thanks for your reply.
1. We use Windows XP home
2. The error message reads as follows:
An unknown error has ocurred. Subject "Test". Account /pop.tools.sky.com'.
Server 'smtp.tools.sky.com', Protocol: SMPT, Port 465, Secure (SSL): Yes.
Error number 0x800CCC0B
3. Yes I have spoken to Sky two or three times. I have deleted the account
and re-installed it as per instructions (Configure POP3/IMAP with Outlook
Express and Outlook 2002 and older), and instructions from Sky.
4. It is a Sky wireless router supplied by SAGEM. Our previous Netgear was
faulty, hence the need to replace it. We had no problems with Outlook
Express with the old router!!
5/6. We use Norton 360 and the subscription is current. When the computer
was purchased we bought an earlier version of Norton and upgraded to 360
about 18 months ago.
I hope these comments are helpful - we are not the worlds greatest
technicians!!
Regards
Mike

We need much more information if we're going to help you. Answer the
following questions by number:
1. Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3) and your IE
version.
2. Please post the exact (verbatim) error message you're getting when you
attempt to send an email.
3. Have you contacted your ISP (Sky) about this problem?
4. Is it a standalone router or a router/DSL modem combination unit? Are
you really connecting via a wireless USB modem and not a router/DSL modem?
5. What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?
6. Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

What happens when you try to send? Can you send to yourself? Any error

Double check your account settings.
Setting Up Sky Mail In Outlook Express:
http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sky...cleId=11272103
Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving,
and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting
changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your
up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For
more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the
program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the
option arises.
I recently had to install a new Sky broadband Sagem wi-fi router and
since
then have been unable to send any messages through Outlook Express 6. I
can
receove messages without any problem. Sky cannot help me. What do I
have
to
do to rectify this problem??
