Default Importing old store files

Only a manual Import. This is designed for a lost folder when the dbx file
still exists, but it is easily adaptable to your situation. You just have to
do it for more that one folder.

In Windows Explorer, click on the dbx file and drag it to the Desktop. Open
OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on your
desktop. ***Copy a message from any folder to the new one. You MUST do
this.*** Close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop and drag
the folder from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you clicked on to
reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click
Yes.

Tried renaming to prevent duplication, no help. I was trying to import
from a store directory the whole time as I was on Windoze 98 when those
were saved. Another idea, perhaps?

Thanks,
Bill

Create a new identity and see if they will import into there. They are
all either 5 or 6 as OE4 used MBX files. 5x & 6 all import the same way.
File | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and chose the
Store rather than an identity.

Another thing that may be hampering the import is the names of the files.
You might have to rename them by changing (for example) the Inbox (1) to
Saved Mail One.dbx. Inbox (2) to Saved Mail Two.dbx. Sent Items as well.
Having the same name as default folders may play a part in the problem.

There is a way to get them in manually if the import doesn't work. Let us
know.

Hi all ...

I have some old mail files in a store directory from several past years.
The files are named:

Inbox (5).dbx
2000.dbx
2001.dbx
2002.dbx
Inbox (1).dbx
Inbox (2).dbx
Inbox (3).dbx
Inbox (4).dbx
1999.dbx
Sent Items (1).dbx
Sent Items (2).dbx
Sent Items (3).dbx
Sent Items (4).dbx
Sent Items (5).dbx

I'm not sure if they're in OE4, 5 or 6 types, but dating back to 2003,
(guessing they'd be the current inbox, not the archive, at that time),
at best I'm guessing OE5.

How do I import these files into my current OE6 system, where obviously
the inbox numbers are duplicated? When I try to import from a store
directory using OE4 or OE6 settings it claims no messages can be found
or another application is using them ...

THANKS!!
Bill
