Inbox keeps emptying!!

I work in IT support and have a number of sites where we run Outlook Express
in a multi user environment. Recently I am finding that the Inbox has emptied
for no apparent reason. We have tried using OE only on the server, we have
disabled our Anti virus from scanning e-mails (this is covered by our mail
server), we are keeping on top of housekeeping. I can recover the messages by
using DBXtract and all is well until a few days later and the same thing
happens. The users are getting fed up with this and I find that the majority
of my time is spent recovering mail that was there "a few minutes ago".
Does anyone else suffer from this problem?
Not I.
Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening? I will be very grateful for
any advice.
First thing: You can't run MSOE from a server only. It is a desktop client
which has to be run on the local computer.
Second thing: MSOE isn't designed to share its message store with remote
devices. As with the client, itself, the message store must reside on the
local computer. The problem is, if MSOS starts, and the remote resource is
not available, MSOE recreates the message store locally, and all remotely
stored messages will no longer be available.
So, are you trying to share the MSOE message store across multiple
computers? If so, Ron Summmer's requote of an old post of mine is an elegant
solution. Please tell us more so we can know how best to offer you options.
