Default Can OE be upgraded?

Give this freeware tool a try. I know some people that opted to use it
even though they had a spell checker via Word.

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. You need Word or an MS
Office program, pre 2007. The spell checker in Works 4 through 6 will work
with OE, but not other editions. If you do not have such a program, you
can download a free spell check at one of these sites.

TinySpell. (Checks the spelling as you type).

Microsoft's "upgrade" cough e-mail client is Windows Live Mail.

I don't know which checker Bruce. I just enable the check and preferences
from the OE ToolsOptions. The biggest deficiency for me is its inability
to recognize and ignore proper nouns. Word will not insert the red or
green squiggly lines under the same names that OE flags as errors. It
also flags errors in previous text on a reply even though I've checked
the box that says to ignore them.

It's not the end of the world if I can't upgrade.

Just out of curiosity, if they discontinued development of OE and
WinMail three years ago, what do they provide as a mail program these
days?

There is no newer version of Outlook Express. All development of OE and
WinMail (Vista) was discontinued in June, 2006.

Which "very deficient spell checker" are you using? Outlook Express
never had one of its own and relied on the Word spell checker or a
third party app.

I have XP, IE8 (which I don't use) and OE6. Can the latter be upgraded,
my specific desire is to improve the very deficient spell checker?
