By all means, try it. Just keep track of what you do so you can undo it
if need be. Did you get an error message? Whenever you do, post it here
in its entirety.
This is a few years old, but if they haven't changed anything it'll be
good.
Configure Outlook Express for Charter:
http://www.charter.com/Visitors/Supp...D=1241#Outlook
Thanks for the input Bruce, I have been on the link you gave, didn't
help me. Although after this review I did check the box to eliminate
my preview pane. After 14 years on email I just learned how to
eliminate that feature!
I want a little info about who cs-1 is and why are they doing what they
do, before I put them in as my email client. Just a little caution.
Thanks, Mike

I setup OE for charter email.
pop.charter.net
smtp.charter.net
Email worked fine for two days, then I had the following symptom.
I could not send email, I found that I had an email trapped in the
outbox that would not send. I deleted the email in the outbox, and I
received email as normal. Webmail works fine.
Charter doesn't support OE. They won't help.
I found the following pdf that has,
"directions to setup an SMTP authentication in your emal program"
It uses mail.cs-1.com for incoming mail and smtp.charter.net
for outgoing mail. Then you must check the box for "My server requires
Authentication" Also you must check another box in the outgoing mail
server window. "use same settings as my incoming mail server"
I would like some input about the information before I try it.
Thanks, Mike
