sorry, Brian.. I meant "sent" box. The technician came round this evening
and did something and now it works properly... one copy still in Inbox and
one in sent.

Thank you both. At least I felt I hadn't called him out for nothing.

You can't have a message stay in the Outbox. That's only a temporary
holding location for messages that have not yet been sent. As soon as they
get sent they will leave that folder and there's nothing you can do about
that. You WANT them to leave that folder.

This was automatic in Outlook Express so I am lost. How do I force
this in Outlook please?

With your Inbox displayed, click ViewArrange ByCurrent View and tell us
what view is selected.
