If any of the local folders have a + in front of them in the Folder
List, click it to see the subfolders. You might find your missing
folder there. If so, drag the folder to the "Local Folders" to get it
out of being a subfolder.
It's very easy to accidentally drag a folder to be a subfolder of
another one. I've done that several times. If you click on a folder
and move the mouse a little while clicking, that gets treated as a drag
and OE will drag the folder into the adjacent one and give you no
warning at all. If you aren't looking close, you won't see it
disappear.
Also, if you select a user created folder and press the Delete key
intending to delete the highlighted message there, but the focus is
still on the folder, the folder gets deleted. You do get a "are you
sure" prompt, but many people have clicked to fast to read it. In that
case, you folder becomes a subfolder of the Deleted Items folder. It
can be recovered by dragging it out until the Deleted Items folder is
emptied either manually or automatically (Tools, Options, Maintenance)

I had a "saved" folder under local folders that disappeared but I know
I did not delete it. I have been trying to retrieve a similar file
from the "stored" area.
Any idea what caused this and how I can get it back. I managed to
locate a similar file name from the "stored" location but I have no
idea how it got there and I am having some difficulty in having OLE
import it.
