Despite what they say, both of these KB articles pertain to OE6:

OLEXP: Outlook Express Cannot Connect to Hotmail through Proxy Server:

OLEXP: Error Message: "Unable to Poll for New Messages" When You Use Hotmail
with Outlook Express:

Dear All,

I cannot access HTML type account from behind corporate proxy. There seems
to be a common problem to Outlook Express and Outlook 2003 and how they
handle
proxy requests.

Workaround process with my Outlook 2003 (HTTP email account already
created) 1) Start Outlook.
2) Click on my hotmail account - error: "proxy autentication"
3) Click on On-Line Help - Outlook shows "Connect to..." dialog for proxy
authentication pre-filled with my HTML account address!?
4) Change HTML address to proxy access then OK, On-line help appears.
5) Click on my HTML account - It WORKS!

Conclusion: Both Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express 6 provide proxy with
hotmail crudentials instead of proxy crudencials from Internet Options...
(contrary to what both programs claim to use). In Outlook Express I cannot
find similar workaround.

Question: Is there a registry setting or any other trick to use to make
Outlook Express 6 provide proper crudencials to specific requests? I do
not want to use Outlook 2003 with or without workaround. I want to use
Outlook Express.

P.S. Outlook Express can access HTML account when no proxy is involved
without any problems whatsoever. I have tried that.

Thanks.
