Default Where does Pocket Outlook store text messages?

ActiveSync 4.1 Help states "Backing up and restoring information is
available only for Windows Mobile software for Smartphone 2003 and earlier
and Windows Mobile software for Pocket PC 2003 and earlier."

Why has this option been removed for Windows Mobile 5.0? Seems an unusual
decision...
