uncheck [x] break apart messages larger than xxxxx kb

the messages are most often large attachments broken into pieces for easier
transmission, large files tie up the servers. some ISP have size limits,
the default for this setting is small, makes a lot of pieces
the messages can be rejoined by the receiver, select all the pieces, right
click "combine & decode"

If i send an email with an attachment from Outlook Express it sends up
to 48 copies of the email to the receiver. I have scanned the PC over
and over with Norton and ran AVG through it today but no virus found.
I have thought of deleting OE and reinstalling it but that process
seems to something other than the layman would try.
Any clues out there to solve this issue?
