Default Transferring Outlook 2002 info WITHOUT having create .pst

Importing an entire PST corrupts your profile. Outlook does not understand
how to do that and instead creates a duplicate PST file that you cannot
close.
Moreover, importing PST's will lose:
1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Opening a PST file will preserve all of these. That is why we do not advise
people to import a PST file into Outlook. If none of that concerns you, then
be my guest. Import away!

OK...I see it there...thanks.

Why should I not import the .PST?

DL, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there is no back up .PST to
copy. Any other suggestions?

You're missing the point. If you have your old drive connected, then
your
old PST should still be on that drive unless you took steps to wipe it
out,
Look in
D:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook. If you see a PST there, that's probably your old
data. Open it with FileOpenOutlook Data File. Never import from a
PST.
