With Microsoft FAX Nearly One Minute Delay between Using Print
I started with a long working Windows Messaging and Microsoft fax
system.
I have used it for sending only and thought it worked fine, despite bad
comments I have read over the years about Microsoft Fax from people
saying use another fax program. I am slowing getting the impression
that the comments that I heard came from people trying to use it with
Outlook, as opposed to Messaging, and that Messaging itself was the
Microsoft high point of fax support and that I should revert back.
I installed Outlook 2000 SR1 from a cd.
After installing, I changed over to c/w from imo.
I upgraded to SR3 with a download from Microsoft.
I applied an update k0901 that I found on the Microsoft site.
I tried both running with my prior fax only profile and adding the fax
service to the profile that Outlook set up on install. They seemed to
both work the same.
I went through this process twice, once on an expendable test system
and once my real system when I thought it was working. I didn't
discover that Outlook had to be running to avoid an approximately 50
second delay between printing the fax and the wizard starting until I
put it on my real system.
Question. Should I try Outlook 98?
