OE conflict with recent security patch and general

Some weeks ago my OE wouldn't work and after days of frustration following
web based advice to remove & reinstall it, I found a message saying the

was due to a MS security patch and I deleted and blocked that and OE

I now would like to know if this patch issue has been fixed and if I can
allow security updates back to my computer? (curiously at the time this
happened I got the OE newsgroup on my OE but today when I looked for it it
had disappeared!I have accessed this via IExplorer and I will look to see
how
to get the newsgroup back into OE! The joys of computing!......).
