Default OE compacted & lost messages

DBXpress run in Disk Mode is the best chance to recover messages as it reads
from the HDD and is not dependent of recovering from the dbx file itself:

Thanks for the information.
Do any of the repair programs you mentioned work on this particular
problem
(corrupted DBX files after interrupting OE6 compacting)? I've already
spend
$ on ScanDBX which didn't solve the problem, and I'm fine buying another
program but only if I have good confidence that it will work. Please
advise.
Thanks,
Karen

Avoid Such Corruption in Futu

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a
manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Hello,
OE6 compacted my message folders. The process got interrupted (the
compacter showed "Not Responding". Now about half of my message
folders
show no messages even though the dbx files show data.

How do I recover these lost messages? Is there a recovery/repair tool
that works on this problem? So far we have tried ScanDBX without
success.

Thanks, Karen
