Default Outlook Express 6 running in the background Ghost / Phantom accoun

OK, this is strange behavior. I have a customer, franchisee actually, that
was using OE6 to check her franchise company email. She stopped using it
about two months ago and switch to webmail (I allow them to POP or use
webmail). She complained that she wasn't getting all her emails so I sarted
looking in the mail server logs and they showed that an email client was
Popping her account and the mailbox was clean because she keeps up with it
using Webmail. OK, I got her on the phone and we started looking around and
opened up her old Outlook Express 6 which she hadn't done or used in two
months and low and behold there was over 350 messages in the inbox. Here is
another one.. A second franchisee was using OE6 to check his email and about
a month ago we changed his password and I had to get on his case because he
had it checking his account every one minute (I ask them to set it no lower
than every 5 minutes and they usually don't have a problem with that).
Anyway, something is still checking that account using the OLD password (and
failing) every one minute and checking the account successfully every five
minutes using the correct password. SO.. What in the heck is "left over" that
is still checking these account in the background. Before you ask... No ,
they don't have any other email clients like Outlook or other 3rd party
cleints setup or even installed. No the accounts are not set up on other
computers (they only have one). I have completely removed the accounts in OE6
and it still check or POPs in the background. HELP! Is there a file somewhere
I can look for and delete? I have scoured the Microsoft and the Internet for
any ideas and I am coming up short. Thanks for your time! Tyler
