I can't believe that! There are some VERY knowledgable people on the OE
groups!
I posted it to microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general under a similar
heading to this one and was just given stock responses telling me how to
import which one would naturally already have tried before posting a
difficult question. i try self-help first and try not to post easy or
obvious questions. When I posted, I said that the obvious steps weren't
working and said in detail that what had happened was that I had had a hard
drive crash which had left me with spare dbx files with all the proper names
recovered from the hard drive. No one really addressed this specific
problem in any way. They were all very good at telling me how to transfer OE
settings and postings and emails from one computer to another. Is there
another outlook express NG where I should have posted? Or is there simply no
way if the simple import function wont work? I dont think that the DBX files
are corrupted though I do suspect that the directory structure is wrong in
the folders where the dbx files are presently located which is probably why
I cant use the import function.
Do I gather that you are wanting to to transfer your Outlook EXPRESS from
one computer to Outlook EXPRESS on a new computer?
I wanted to consolidate all my similar folders first and was coming to the
conclusion that this was only going to be possible by importing the dbx
files into outlook but I might well be wrong on that
If so then read he

That is the /definitive/ page on backing up and restoring OE.
