Default Notebook and Outlook 2003 use local copy and Exchange server

Thanks for replying, Brian. I got this working. But now my question is, I
have the local copy of the Outlook.ost file saved in my local Windows
profile. If I am connected to the Exchange server, I can work offline, but
when I log onto the laptop locally, Outlook doesn't seem to associate to this
ost file. How can I use the ost file? Thanks!

I have a notebook and I am connected to Active Directory and an
Exchange Server. I setup Outlook to use the Cached Exchange Mode to
have a local copy of the Outlook data. Now when I take my notebook
off the network and try to use Outlook locally, I can't even open it,
because it runs through the setup wizard and opens only if it is
setup to connect to Exchange. I don't want to connect to any server,
I just want to use the local copy of the data. Help would very much
be appreciated.

Try this: open Control PanelMail, click E-mail Accounts, select your
Exchange account, click Change, then More Settings. On the General tab,
select "Manually control connection state" and click "Choose the connection
type when starting". This should cause Outlook to prompt you for whether
you wish to work on- or off-line when it starts. Choose offlne and see what
you get.
