So is it actually possible to embed a word file in an email which Word
opens during viewing the email (e.g.: not attachment)?

As far as I know WinWord in Outlook reads and sends HTML formatted text.

Attachments are not a threat to Outlook users in companies, since they
pass the Exchange server where they are scanned by an anti-virus.
