Default Suddenly All Custom Inbox Folders Missing

I'm running WinXP SP2. I have a hardware firewall in my router, am also using
Sygate personal Firewall and Norton Antivirus. Also use 3 different spyware
programs. I had done a full system scan for both Antivirus and spyware the
day before this ocurred and did the same immediately afterwords - no apparent
problems. Here's what happened;

In Outlook Express I have several custom inbox folders to which all incoming
mail is routed through a series of Message Rules. This has been working
without any problem for several years. Suddenly yesterday when routinely
checking my email I discovered that all of the custom folders were missing as
well as all the email contained within them. However everything else such as
address book, message rules and suscribed usenet newsgroups were all still
present.

Anyone ever had this happen? Is there something I could have done
accidentally? Does it sound like a virus that anyone's aware of?

Thanks for any insights.

Search for .dbx on your computer. These files are hidden in Win 2000 and
XP. If you still have the sub folders, import them back into OE using
File/Import/Messages.

If you have Norton checking emails, disable it. If you have *anything*
plugged into OE, disable it.

You might want to consider this free back up program for OE:
