I create folders under "Local folders" in which I gather massages. Regarding
one single folder, which has some 50 messages,I want to merge their content
into a single "message". I don't care about the subject of this "global"
message.

View, Layout, Status Bar is checked. Then when you select a folder in the
status bar (lower left hand corner) is be a count of messages.

Make sure that View, Current View isn't hiding any messages or else they
won't be counted.
