Default Cannot imbed pictures

Thanks PA - will act upon yours and Jim's advice.

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a
manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if
Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only).

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Ok Jim, I am actually using my secondary identity at this time and not my
main. Will go to my main and set it up and try again.
I've got a lot of emails in OE (most in separate folders) but perhaps I
need to have a big clean out first? Only about three in the deleted items
box but plenty in the sent and received boxes.

Then one last suggestion before giving up would be to create a new
identity, switch to it and create a mail account and test it. It's
quite possible that there is some registry corruption in your existing
identity that is causing the problem, particularly if it is the default
"Main Identity" created when Outlook Express is first started after
installation. If that works, you can import your messages from the old
identity and then delete the problem identity. Good luck.

Thanks Jim and the answer is yes. I have also carried out "spyware"
and virus checks without any being picked up (clean system).......

Look in Tools/Options/Send and click the HTML button for Mail
Messages. Is the choice to "Send pictures" checked?

Using Win XP Pro SP2 and OE 6.002900.2180.

When trying to "Insert" a picture from My Pictures folder OE
"freezes"! I then need to close the program and start over again.
I can carryout all other normal functions with OE. What could be
causing this? All Windows updates/patches are up to date.
