Default Outlook database .pst question

I usually learn programs by experimenting (a bad idea in an email
program I guess)
I opened a .pst data file from the menu in Outlook (didn't know what
it was?) finally figured out it opened personal folders. I apparently
opened an old list of Personal folders from our primary email into my
2nd personal acct (same service provider) I apparently opened more
than one. I figured out how to close one, but now when I try to close
it O get an operation failed, object not found msg. What does that
mean & what do I do about it.

What it means is that you've corrupted you mail profile (possibly by
deleting a PST from the Windows fodler contaiing it while still open in a
mail profile). TIme for a new mail profile.

I actually strted experimenting with
this in the Primary acct. There are 3 data files Outlook & Outlook1 &
Outlook2. I think I lost contacts from my address bk in the primary
acct the 1st time I opened a Data file. Is this possible? Have I
screwed things up? If so how do I fix it without loosing emails.

Decide which of those PSTs afre the one you wish to have in Outlook and when
you create your new mail profile, specify that PST as your delivery
location.
