Links Don't Work
Your Main Identity is the most likely one to become corrupt.

OK, I thought maybe there was something *special* about Main Identities,
and that they should remain. I don't have any idea how I got so many of
them, I'll delete them if they're *not* special.

Delete any identities you are not using. Make a mental note of the
folders you have in your currently used identities for verification, and
then:
In Regedit, navigate to this key:
|--HKEY_CURRENT_USER
|-----Identities.
Click on each one and continue to:
|--------{GUID}
|-----------Software
|--------------Microsoft
|-----------------Outlook Express
|--------------------5.0
When you see any that are obviously not being used, go back to Identities
and right click and delete that identity.
This is something you should do, but it is not the remedy for your
current problem. Do hyperlinks not work in any identity? I still think
you should try a new one if they don't work as long as you have tried all
other possible fixes already.

No, the URL edits don't stick. You had suggested I create a new
identity, I haven't done that yet. I'll try the other things in the
Frank Saunders link you provided. I've got a question about identities.
When I go to Manage Identities, I see 5 listed. One each for the two
users (my wife and I), two Main Identity and a Main Identity(2). Does
that make sense? Should I delete some?

And this doesn't work / stick?
From:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm
If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet
Shortcut) and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.
"Application used to perform this action" should read:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use
the double quotes.)
DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:
#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)
#4
WWW_OpenURL
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.
Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

After every reboot, links contained in emails don't work. Every
time, in
order to correct it, I have to go to My Computer Tools Folder
Options
File Types, select URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol (with and
without
Privacy), Select Advanced Select Edit and OK out. I don't really
have to
change anything, the values are all correct, I just have to go
through the
Edit process. Then all the links work correctly. Anybody got a clue
what
my problem is, or how to fix it?
