Default outlook 2003: have contacts but no address book

Ah, yes , obviously, but that did not work. It stubbornly stayed
greyed-out
I found out, I had to rename the stubborn outlook.pst, start a new,
empty .pst file, put the empty contact list in the address book (by
the previously grayed-out mark) and then import the renamed file's
content into the empty .pst.

Conclusion: Outlook ain't easy nor obvious.... anymore, when you have
to dive deep into the many menus. It's like a swiss army knife: lots
of tools and facilities, but it can suddenly snap shut with your
fingers caught between some of them.
