It items are saved in a non-default folder, reminders will not fire.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, asked:

| In Calendar, Outlook won't let me set reminders to saved appointments
| because "the item is not in your Calendar or Task folder." What does
| this mean? How do I get into the correct folder?
| Same thing happens with Activites tab in Contacts because "Contacts
| folder can't be found."
