Default "Failed to start the Expression Service. . ."

I just upgraded to Office 2003 recently. I use a PST to manage my
calendar etc. because I need it to be portable, i.e. on a USB Key. I
have a view in my calendar that uses a user defined field for Total
Work:

Format( ([End]-[Start])*24 , "#0.00" )

and Cost:

Format([Total Work]/60*100,"$#,##0.00;($#,##0.00)")

I created this view with Office XP and have been using it for years to
track my hours worked, etc.

When I tried to switch to this view, I got the "Failed to start the
Expression Service. . ." message. I went into the view, and the
formulae are missing the expressions. Furthermore, when I tried to
re-add them into the formula field, it tells me the expressions are
invalid.

I tried to Detect and Repair. That didn't work. Tried to reinstall.
That didn't work. WTF is going on????

I read a few things online about there being issues with the Timex
datasync or whatever. I don't use that. I don't use BCM either. This
isn't a custom form. I read something that mentioned how Outlook calls
Access or something like that.

Anyone know what else might be happening here?
