Default Compacting folders

I'm not responsible for OEQB or OE Freebie Backup. That's Majik's
ballywick. I just host it on my website. You can do a lot with OEQB.

Thanks Bruce (and Alias for asking). I had to go into the registry
to fix it.
Cheers, jim

Then there is an optional update for OE waiting for you at Windows
Update.

Note to others: You must be running WinXP SP2 for this update.

What's the KB number?

Thanks,

Alias

I lost it. I knew right where it was stored, but there was a glitch
in the MS newsgroups and the email is gone. I hope Steve or Jim or
Bruce or Vincent or one of the other regulars will jump in with the
article number. I'll save it better this time.

WindowsXP-KB918766-v2-x86-ENU.exe

I downloaded it and it does, indeed, set the counter back to zero with
a manual compaction. However, it also backs up the folders which gives
it a new little window that is named "copying" that pops up when it
hits a large .dbx file. I wonder to where it copies them?

Alias

There are two articles, KB918766 and KB818651, but the latter is not
currently available. The download link is
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Yes, it places the backup in Recycled, overwriting any earlier backup
of the sane folder(s). To use it, copy it to the store folder, delete
the one you want to replace and then rename the BAK file to DBX. (It's
a bit more complicated if the messed up DBX file isn't there or
contains messages that are hew that you want to keep.

I use OE Freebie back up and back up before I do any compacting.

So when are you putting it on line again so we can all be smart?
