still having trouble with oe6 address book
Hi,
I do not know the fix for your problem, however lets discuss, users, address
book and outlook express.
Instead of having multiple computers for each person the Windows operating
system allows one computer to serve individually for each person. In other
words, when a users logs on they are actually treated as they have their own
computer.
Just like a individual computer each user has their own Internet Explorer,
Outlook Express, Address Book, My Documents folder and etc. This is
accomplished by having a complete set of files and folders for each user.
Go to My Computer, choose your hard drive, choose Documents and Settings,
you will see a folder for each user.
-----------------
As each user has their own set of files, programs and etc. it is difficult
to see how you and your wife are having a problem with address book.
-----------------
The Address Book is part of the Windows operating system, when Windows was
installed it also installed the Address Book as a accessory
Choose start on the desktop, select Programs, select Accessories, and you
will find the Address Book.
Outlook Express and other programs, like Microsoft Works, use the Windows
Address Book.
As indicated above, each user is treated like having their own computer,
they have their own Address Book in their files.
----------------
Outlook Express has the ability to share it's use with different
individuals, Identities, not to be confused with users.
Remember, each user has their own Outlook Express, therefore each has the
ability to set up their own Identities.
For explanation of Identities, open Outlook Express, choose Help, choose
Contents and Index, on the Index tab scroll to Identities.

| I've read through countless forum discussions, websites, and M'soft
bulletins
| and still cannot make the Address Book work for other users on my
computer.
| I'm running xp media center (xp pro sp2), ie 6, with me on an
administrator
| account and my wife on a limited account. We like to use oe6 for e-mail
but
| when trying to set up her address book for it I get the error msg. about
| address book corrupted, etc. which was supposedly caused by kb911567.
I've
| tried setting her up as an administrative acct. and the address book opens
| but it's the address book from my admin. acct., not a new address book
| specifically for her. When I open her address book in windows explorer,
it
| shows two .wab files- administrator.wab and administrator.wab~, same as my
| address book. I suspect my problem has something to do with this since I
| presume her .wab files should be specific to her. I've tried the
kb918651,
| kb918766 fix to no avail. I've modified the registry to show ie and oe
| uninstalled so I could re-install them. That did not work. I think that
if I
| could modifiy her .wab files I could get her address book going but I'm
not
| quite sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated as I've been racking
my
| brain on this for about 2 weeks.
