Default Why can't I open attachments?

I wish it were that simple. Remember, I made an exact copy of one drive to
another. The settings for OE are still preserved, including the allow
attachments checkbox.

Strangely, if the attachment is a picture, I can see the picture embedded in
the body of the e-mail. I just can't open it by clicking on it.

toolsoptionssecurity, uncheck do not allow attachments............

The default setting is the safe bet, to avoid accidentally opening or
saving viral code.

I just made an exact copy (so I thought) of my old hard drive to a new
one, using the manufacturer's copy program. When I use OE on my new drive,
I can't open or save attachments. When I double-click on the attachment
file, nothing happens. When I right click, and try to save an attachmetn,
I get a can't save error message.

If I boot to my old drive and use OE, the attachment access is fine. If I
direct OE on the old drive to use the store folders on the new drive, the
attachment access is still fine. Therefore, I must conclude that there is
something wrong with OE on the new drive.

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
