Actually, it's not a "real" address book. It's just a view of those of your
Contacts folders that have been enabled as address books. It contains no
data on its own.

I use the Address Book because I can search and send a bulk e-mail to
the names within the results, when I use Contacts I can't seem to
understand how to send an e-mail with the searched names.

One way is after locating the names in Contacts, selecting them all and
clicking ActionNew Message to Contact.
