Default Where are Local Folder E-mails Stored?

You can copy the dbx files, (make sure you include Folders.dbx), to a CD.
Copy the CD to any location on your new machine that is convenient. Right
click on them | Properties and remove the Read Only attribute. Now open OE
and File | Import | Messages | MSOE 6 | and check Import from an OE6 Store
directory and point to where you saved them.

Before you start, move the messages in your old machine to folders with
names that are not on the new machine to avoid an overwrite. Ex: If you have
messages in both Inboxes, the mail in the new machine may be overwritten.

Once you import successfully, you can move the messages around as you
please.

Bruce, this was very helpful. I found the .DBX files that are the E-mail
folders. What would happen if I just copied these files to the same
location
in a different computer using Outlook Express? Would I see the E-mails in
the second computer?

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder
location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then StartRunCtrl+V will put the
location
in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the
location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer.

In Windows XP, 2K & 3K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must
enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder
Options |
View.

If you are transferring to another PC, and have access to a Windows XP
setup
CD, or if both computers are running Windows XP, see:

Where on my computer hard drive are the E-mails in my local / offline
folders
stored? In Outlook there are .PST files but I can't seem to find
anything
similar when searching on my C: drive of the computer that uses Outlook
Express. I will be buying a new computer and want to trnasfer all my
local
folders E-mail to the new computer.
