Default Why does the pop3 settings keep changing back to "localhost"?

It is normally caused by AV or a Firewall setting to scan email before it
comes into the local mailbox. I have seen this issue with any number of AV
packages but most have updated to prevent this problem.

After furious head scratching, Arnold asked:

| I have an unusual situation where one of the employees Outlook 2003
| POP3 server settings keep changing back to "localhost". Of couse,
| this prevents her from receiving her email. I've changed this back to
| the correct settings. But, once the system is rebooted... Back to the
| localhost it goes!
|
| The pop3 server is outside of our network.
| No one else is having this problem.
| The enduser only has user privilieges.
|
| I've seen this before, a long, long time ago. But, I cannot remember
| what the solution was.
|
| Can anyone help?
|
| Thanks.
