I just selected five addresses, (I wasn't going to print them all), and it
did spit out an extra page with #2 only on it as you say. I don't have an
answer since I don't print that way. Probably an OE bug that will never be
fixed.
Printing as I do, I get 33 addresses on one 3 column Word Perfect page.

unfortunately the students have to do this themselves (print out
'a'/singular contact) and exporting is way out of scope for them
it's definately not a printer issue - addressbook numbers the pages (1 &
2) - give it a try & you'll see - a contact can contain a lot of
information
& i suspect it spews out enough paper for this - albeit they only need
name
& address printing
if it's a simple issue (as i suspect) i would prefer to resolve it long
term - alternatively they can take a screenshot
thanks

Not sure how you print a *blank* page and waste paper, but try this
method.
It uses very little paper right off the bat. Your issue may be with the
printer.
Print Address Book:
Open the Address Book and go to: FileExportOther Address Book. Click
on:
Text File (comma separated value). Click: ExportBrowseSelect a
folderName
and Save.Click Next. At this point you can check what information you
want
saved. Finish per instructions.

whenever i print details of 'a' contact from the addressbook it prints
an
extra blank page?
x a classroom full of students
x several contact prints per student
= whole lot of waste paper
grrrrrrrrr
any ideas?
