regardless how it is started.

Neo, thanks for the response.

Would I be able to confirm that Outlook is staying in memory by looking at
the apps or processes via the Task Manager? Would it be apparent or could
it
be some process name that I would need to know?

I have not installed any new software in months. I did recently upgrade
Webroot's Spysweeper a month or so ago. Within the last week or so I also
upgraded McAfee's Internet Security Suite (or whatever it's called) that
includes a spam filter -- though I have disabled that.

Thanks.

Sounds like Outlook is staying in memory after selecting file exit.
This
is generally caused by 3rd party application installed that use, protect,
or
sync with Outlook data. Some examples of legitimate applications that
might
cause this behavior is WinFax, ActiveSync, using Word as the email editor
(if Word is open at the time Outlook closes).

Outside of that, don't forget to look at any addins you might have
installed
including instant messenger type applications (e.g. ICQ).

My e-mail seems to be retreived by my home computer even when Outlook
is
closed. This is a new behavior. If I recall correctly, I recently
allowed
an automatic update from MS so perhaps that is related.

I normally close Outlook on my home computer so I can read any new
e-mail
via the web-based e-mail interface when I am away from home. However,
I
discovered that the e-mail is now being retreived even when Outlook is
closed. I tested this to be certain.

In addition, yesterday I selected the option to save a copy of the
e-mail
on
the server. Yet e-mail is still being retreived and deleted.

This really surprises me. I am even concerned that some unwelcome
software
is causing this. Any suggestions?

Thanks.
