Unable to configure OE
Hi Ben,
Glad I was able to help.
I do not use Outlook Express for my Hotmail, thus have not experienced your additional query.
I use MSN Premium and when I noticed your post it was a simple couple clicks to copy and paste the instructions from Hotmail help.
I am sure someone will notice your query and provide some suggestions.
Good luck and thanks for your reply.

Hi Ken
Thanks so much for your help. That was exactly what I was looking for. I've got my Inbox now and got all my messages. There are just two minor problems though:
1. Frequently I get "An unknown error has occurred". Everything stops. I would have to restart and try again.
2. The password window keeps on appearing again and again even when I fill it up and hit OK. In my original configurations as per your instructions I had checked "Remember my password" as I am the only user. But it doesn't seem to remember the password. Anyway I can get rid of this password thing?
TIA

Ben, the following from Hotmail Help....
Access your e-mail account from Microsoft Outlook Express
To protect our users from the increasing amount of unsolicited junk e-mail and spam sent from MSN Hotmail accounts through Outlook and Outlook Express, we have reluctantly had to restrict the new use of Outlook and Outlook Express to subscribers.
You can view your Hotmail messages in Outlook Express 6.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.. In Outlook Express, click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
2.. Click Add, and then click Mail.
3.. Type your full name, and then click Next.
4.. Type your full Hotmail e-mail address ), and then click Next.
5.. In the My incoming mail server is a box, click HTTP.
6.. In the My HTTP service provider is box, click Hotmail, and then click Next.
7.. Type the password for your Hotmail account, and then click Next.
To help protect your privacy, don't select the Remember password check box unless you are the only person with access to the program.
8.. Click Finish.

| Need help badly and urgent.
|
| Due to hard disk failure I had the HD replaced and reloaded XP Home , XP
| Office and some backups. But I am unable to configure OE to have my Inbox.
| There is no Inbox at present, thereby I cannot download any incoming
| messages. I've got these Newsgroups with no problems and my previously saved
| OE Folders.
|
| For all I've tried it says "This service does not work with Outlook Express"
| and It keeps on asking for a pasword that I did not fill in.
|
| Someone please walk me in from the beginning, step by step.
| Thanks.
