Encountered a problem and will shut down

I haven't seen OE having problems with msvcr71.dll before. But doing a
quick Internet search I've seen that all sorts of applications can have
problems with it with no clear cut cause/fix identified.
Have you recently installed or uninstalled any other software recently,
such as the IE7 beta?
Are you running any anti-virus set to scan e-mail or anti-spam software?
If so try disabling the e-mail scanning.
Otherwise, see if the suggestions here help:

Here's the message:
AppName:msimn.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName:msvcr71.dll
ModVer:7:10.3052.4 Offset 000017tb.

It's more likely to be data corruption rather than program corruption
and so a reinstall is not likely necessary or helpful.
It's important to know the Details. When you get an "Illegal
Operation" or "encountered a problem" message, there is usually a
Details button (In WinME press Alt/D), or a "click here" link to see
the error report. When you click on the button/link, it will give a
message like: XXXX caused an error in YYYY and a bunch of register
nonsense or it will list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The XXXX
and YYYY are important to identify the cause and solution. You can
ignore the rest of the message.
Also include operating system that you are using.

Outlook Express has encountered a problem and must close down.
This comes up every time I try to open OE. I think all of my
critical updates are done. Is there a way to reinstall OE?
