Default Outlook 2003 on new pc; copied 2002 pst, duplicate folders

Duplicate folders usually mean a corrupted profile. Create a new profile
(which will create a new .PST file), open the old .PST file, set it as the
default, close and restart Outlook, then close the .PST file Outlook created
when the profile was created. You can also copy the data from the old .PST
to the new one (which will give you a Unicode format .PST) and close the old
one.

I set up Outlook 2003 on a new pc. I renamed the new .pst file and copied

my
old outlook.pst in its place. This resulted in duplicate personal folders
(ditto for calendar, contacts etc). The instructions in Outlook Help have

not
worked for me. Any ideas?
