Default OE Frequently crashing

OE is crashing Frequently. Sometimes it doesn't give a reason, other times
it does. Here is the reason that it gives:

Outlook Express FolderSync Window Class: msimn.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x7c910e03" referenced memory at "0x004f005c".
The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

I searched on Google, and I found a purported solution. Here is what they
say:

Outlook Express FolderSync Window Class: msimn.exe - Application Error
Getting a "FolderSync Window Class: msimn.exe - Application Error"
when opening Outlook Express?
Here's a short step by step instructions to solve the problem:
1. Close Outlook Express
2. Search the "folders.dbx" file on your primary drive (usualy C drive)
3. Once you find it, rename the file - Preferably something similar
(like folders.old) so you'll know where it came from later.
4. Open Outlook Express again. If nesseceray click the send and recieve
button.
This should solve the problem.

NO, that doesn't *solve* the problem. It leaves me with dozens and dozens
of folders that are out of order, and no longer classified under their
proper folders. That instruction is ludicrous. It is like if I asked how to
fix the scratch on my car and being told the solution is to take paint
stripper to the entire car.

Is there a more reasonable solution?

Thanks,

Kirk
