Default Outlook Crashes on opening in MS Office 2007 Beta

Troubleshooting is sometimes a process of elimination.

Good luck.

William,
I read thru your suggestion and it got me to thinking...that maybe that's
where my problem was stemming from - the .pst files...so I copied them to
a
CD and deleted them from my hard drive. I then tried to open Outlook and
voila!! No problem...no shutdown!! It did, of course, pop up with the
messages that it couldn't locate my outlook, archive and calendar.pst
files
and asked for new passwords...so I entered passwords and started new .pst
files (I'm assuming). I never had to bother reinstalling Office 2007 Beta
or
Windows. Outlook is back to working fine now...so far. I'm not sure if
there is anything in those other .pst files I'm going to need, but if I
do, I
guess I could start restoring them one by one and see which one is the
culprit...??...until then...thanks very much for your help...much better
suggestion than the one before yours!

copy the .pst to another location.

reformat and reinstall windows (or restore your base image)
reinstall Office 2007 BETA
restore your .pst.

Such is the nature of testing software applications that are not ready
for
production environments.

In downloaded Microsoft OPPLUS 2007 Beta a couple of months ago and
everything was running smoothly until last week. All of a sudden
Outlook
started crashing every time I tried to open it. I got the usual
".....has
encountered a problem and needs to close...." message. And of course,
it
doesn't tell you what is causing the problem...it just shuts down, asks
me
if
I want to open it in safe mode. If I say no, it just repeats the same
process. The only way I can open Outlook is to say 'yes' and open it in
safe
mode...which then loses all my settings. I made no changes to my
computer,
nor did I add or remove any software or hardware since downloading the
new
Office Beta. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling OPPLUS...I tried
using
the "repair" mode...I tried the Knowledge Base articles for help...I
tried
various other avenues of getting assistance but trying to find the
right
place to go for help at Microsoft, much less getting them to respond,
is
like
pulling teeth. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I might try
to
solve this problem?
