Default Delays at Inbox

See point 6 on that page I referenced earlier: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6

You can get OETool and OEQB (both free) and then backup with a single button
click. See www.oehelp.com/OETool/

Thanks for your prompt response.

On your last point, how do I backup the messages first? I am not that good
on computers. Just a little better than a newbie.
Thanks

Your inbox is probably overfull and possibly corrupt. and / or your
entire message store is corrupt.

Go to File | Identities and set up a new Identity. That will give you a
new Identity. Then go to File | Import | Messages and import from the
older Identity. Then select all the inbox messages that were imported
and move them to another folder (create one first). Then go to File |
Folder | Compact in the inbox to compact it and shrink it down to
nothing.

That should take care of the problem.

See also www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx points 2, 3 and 7.

I'd suggest you backup your messages too, before they get lost, which
happens a lot.

When I first open Inbox, there is the hour glass next to the pointer.
Messages are downloaded but I cannot open or delete them. I have to wait
for about two to three minutes for the hour glass to go away and then I
can proceed as usual. What can I do about this hour glass problem?
TIA
