| Yesterday I was downloading daag.exe and some other documentation from the
| msdn paterns and practices site. I was asked to do a survey and agreed.
The
| survey window said it would activate when I was done browsing the
"patterns
| and practices" section. when I cloed the site, IE displayed a message that
it
| had encountered and error and had to close. I did not send an error
report,
| but guesss I should have.
|
| Anyway, the next time I used Outlook Express and tried to click a link in
an
| email, nothing happened. I tried another email link that had worked
sometime
| before, but nothing happened with that either. So I began looking for
answers
| with google. I found a lot of answers. One I saw in several places said to
| check file associations and make sure "URL:Hypertext Transfer" was set to
| "%windir% iexplore.exe", and to make sure you do not use the "URL:
Internet
| Shortcut" item. But I do not have any file association labled
"URL:Hypertext
| Transfer". I tried to create a new entry named "URL:Hypertext Transfer",
but
| a dialog box pops up saying this action would delete/replace the other URL
| entry ("URL: Internet Shortcut"). I did not want to do that. I know this
| stuff is in the registry, can I eneter it in there, and where would I look
| for directions? I don't want to reintall IE again, that makes me have to
| reinstall service packs and patches all over agian, too. TIA
