Uninstalling SpamKiller fixed the problem.

But WARNING!!!!

McAfee's goddamned Uninstall Wizard dys-intuitively asks you to check
the boxes of the components you want to KEEP installed, not uninstall.
So natch, I SpamKiller, and the piece of crap then uninstalled
everything BUT SpamKiller.

Actually, if the original poster of that comment just stopped to read the
uninstaller, it would have been obvious what it meant.
