It is not completely clear what you're experiencing, but it is possible to
do some guesswork. The over limit error may be for the server mailbox. This
is particularly true for POP3 accounts, most of which offer limited server
capacity. Usually messages are stored just long enough to be delivered to
the mail client. Messages are then deleted from the server. It is often
possible, however, to leave messages on the server for a limited period of
time.
Check to see if messages are being left on the server. In Outlook Express
the settings is in:
Tools, Accounts, Mail Tab Mail Account Properties Advanced tab
If the option to leave messages on the server is selected then deselect this
option. The server mailbox would then be cleared with a send/receive. If
there is Web access to the account check the number of messages in the
mailbox.
It may be necessary to further explore this issue.
