Windows xp SP2
Sudden problem. Cant send or receive from any accounts within OE.
Accounts have worked previously. Actually cleared all accounts and reset up
just one pop acccount for now to test.
All other internet appllications working fine.
Connect through dsl modem. no firewall enabled
Email account details correct. Webmail works fine.
Seems OE is not binded to the tcp protocol as instantly the minute you click
send receive. no info is transmitted via any tcp port.(run a tcp port monitor)
Reinstalled tcp/ip, and reinstated winsock.
Still nothing.

Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP2)?
Is this a sudden, new problem or an ongoing one? Can you send from this
account? Has this account ever worked in OE?
Are you having connection problems with Internet Explorer as well?
How do you connect (e.g., dial-up, DSL, cable, satellite)? Is a router
involved?

An unknown TCP/IP error occurred. Account: 'andrewtorex PIPEX', Server:
'pop.xxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC40
Error as above.
Firewall software disabled. Password/account details are okay as logged
onto webmail okay through isp website.
Outlook doesnt appear to be binded to TCP properly.
The error above comes up instantly when clicking send/receive. Doesnt even
attempt to look for server.

The full text of the error message would be helpful. That includes the
server name, server type, port number, socket error code, SSL, etc. For
best results, copy/paste the error message rather than retyping it. You
should be able to highlight the message text in the error window (hold
down the left mouse button while dragging the mouse over the text).
Then press Ctrl-C (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the C key) to
copy the highlighted text to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste
that text into the problem description using the Ctrl-V key combination.
If you have your anti-virus set to scan e-mail as it downloads, or an
anti-spam program, either of those could be causing the problem. This
could also be your firewall incorrectly blocking Outlook Express or the
mail ports (typically 110 for receiving and 25 for sending).

Getting an error in outlook express when connecting to POP servers of
my isp.
An Unknown TCP/IP error occurred 0x800CCC40
This error seems to relate to Winsock.
Have reset the tcp/ip stack using the netsh int ip reset command and
also
reset the winsock and winsock 2 registry entries using winsockxpfix
Anyone any other ideas?
